Receipts into your own expense workbook
For bookkeepers who still type receipts into a spreadsheet by hand. Lila reads a folder of receipts and adds them to your own workbook on your Windows PC. You see every row first, and nothing is written before your yes.
Ask her
“Add the receipts in my Receipts folder to my expense report.”
- Put the receipts in a folder: PDFs, scans, or phone photos saved as PNG or JPG.
- Say it, or type it. Name the folder and your workbook.
- She reads each receipt and shows you the rows she would add. A value she isn’t sure of is flagged, with the part of the receipt it came from beside it.
- Fix anything you want changed, then say yes. Nothing is written before your yes.
- She adds the rows to your own .xlsx file, then reads every cell back from the saved file.
- Each row gets its own Undo.
What we measured
- 10 of 10 live runs in a row, on a test copy of Lila, on 20 October 2026. Each run had fresh receipts and a fresh workbook, and each passed the whole job: the preview, the yes, the rows written, and every cell checked in the saved file.
- 0 dates or amounts shown as sure and wrong, on our last two sealed sets of 50 new test receipts each, on 20 October 2026. Sealed means the receipts were made apart from the work on her reader, never shown to it before the test, and scored once. They were read offline, with the same Windows text reader she uses.
How it’s built
- Unsure values are flagged beside the part of the receipt they came from, so you can check them against the picture.
- Nothing is written before your yes.
- Every cell is read back from the saved file after she writes it.
- Undo for each row.
- No Excel or Microsoft 365 needed. She writes the .xlsx file herself, so it works on a PC with neither installed.
- Card numbers are masked to the last 4. A card number on a receipt is shown and written as its last 4 digits only.
What it doesn’t do yet
- Store names are sometimes wrong. When she isn’t sure of one, she flags it, so give the names a look.
- Google Sheets is tested offline only. Use an .xlsx file for now.
- The installer isn’t signed yet, so Windows warns you before it opens. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Install steps
- She copies what the receipt says. She doesn’t give tax, legal or accounting advice, so check the rows before you rely on them.
