Other ways to reach her
From your phone, without the internet, from your own code, and a few games to try.
From your phoneEarly
- How: Settings > What she can use > Your phone > Connect your phone (this needs Lila Cloud: your account or a pairing code). Open the link shown on your phone and enter the 6-digit code, or scan the QR code. A code works once, for 10 minutes. Remove unpairs a phone.
- What works: chatting and memory. She answers out loud on the phone in her own voice while the computer stays quiet. Jobs on the computer still start at the computer.
OfflineEarly
- How: Settings > Voice and microphone > Offline pack > Download: a small language model (the kind of program that writes replies) that runs on your computer, plus an English dictionary. It’s roughly 0.5 to 1.2 GB, depending on your computer’s memory, and the section shows the size. Remove frees the space.
- What it does: once installed, she switches to it when her online services can’t be reached (tick Offline mode to use it anyway). Offline she can chat, define words, tell the time and set timers, but not browse, read email or see your screen. She uses your computer’s built-in voice, not hers.
For developers: command line, API and MCP
- Command line (typing commands in a terminal window): Settings > What she can use > Apps and services > Install command-line tool adds a
lilacommand:lila "set a timer for 10 minutes",lila chat, lila status, andlila doctor, which runs checks and suggests fixes. - Developer API: Settings > Keys and developer tools > Developer API makes keys for your own scripts to send her text at
/api/v1/ask. A key is shown once; treat it like a password. - MCP:
lila mcplets programs that support MCP (a standard way for one program to offer tools to another) ask her questions or have her say something out loud. - Limits: text in, text out. They can’t approve actions on the computer; approvals wait in her window. Using them from another computer through Lila Cloud hasn’t been tested yet.
GamesEarlyWindows only
Experiments, best treated as fun.
- Chess against chess.com bots: she plays the site’s computer opponents, never people. Her reading of the board isn’t finished, so expect mistakes.
- Geometry Dash: Cube trial in Settings > Keys and developer tools > Game control plays the game’s cube sections for up to 60 seconds. Deaths and missed jumps are likely. Stop game, F8 or Stop ends it.
- Civilization VI: designed to set up a game against computer players and play turns while narrating. It hasn’t run live yet.
